■相手に先にしゃべらせて情報を集める

　「おしゃべりなヤツは大物になれない」というのがマフィアの世界の通説です。うっかり口を滑らせて余計なことをしゃべってしまわないように、相手に先にしゃべらせることが吉なのです。
そのためには聞き上手になること。そうすればおのずと情報が集められ、その情報にもとづいて正確な判断ができます。

■口先で考えるな、まず考えてから口を開け

　相手から意見を乞われたり、問いかけられたりした時に、深く考えずに反射的に受け答えしてしまう人がいますがこれもNG。優秀なビジネスパーソンほど口数は少なくても、口を開けば的確な言葉を発するものだ、とマイケル氏は言います。

■自分のエゴは捨てる。相手のエゴは利用する

相手に甘く見られることを利用しない手はありません。特に交渉事の時は相手に「俺の方が賢い」「俺の方が格上」と思わせられれば、その油断を突いて対話を優位に進めることができます。仕事のデキる人の中には自分が一番賢いと思っている人が多いもの。この方法はそういった人が相手の時に特に効果を発揮します。
